Cyclone Ditwah, which struck Sri Lanka in late November, has caused an estimated US$4.1 billion in damage, affecting nearly 2 million people nationwide, according to a World Bank Group GRADE report. Infrastructure, housing, agriculture, and essential services were severely impacted, with the Central Province among the hardest hit.

The World Bank has mobilized US$120 million to support recovery efforts in affected areas. Imperial College hopes for a swift and inclusive recovery and remains hopeful that coordinated national and international efforts will help communities rebuild stronger and more resilient to future disasters.
