In times of crisis, communities come together to rebuild hope, strength, and resilience. Demonstrating this spirit, the Rotaract Club of Imperial College of Business Studies (RACICBS), in collaboration with the Rotaract Club of Colombo South under the Rotaforce initiative, successfully organized Project Lifeline: Cyclone Ditwah Relief Initiative, a humanitarian effort dedicated to supporting families affected by Cyclone Ditwah.

Project Lifeline was conducted from 27th November 2025 to 13th December 2025, focusing on providing immediate relief to communities severely impacted by the disaster. The project was built around a two-phase approach: Awareness & Collection, followed by Sorting & Distribution. Collection points were established at Rotaractor residences in Bambalapitiya and Dehiwala, enabling donors and well-wishers to contribute essential items conveniently. The collected donations were then carefully sorted and distributed directly to affected families to ensure timely and efficient support.

The initiative combined a physical donation drive with a dynamic social media fundraising campaign, highlighting the power of digital platforms in mobilizing humanitarian support. Through collective efforts, the contributions were utilized to prepare and distribute relief packs consisting of dry rations and hygiene essentials, with the total project value reaching LKR 350,000.

Beyond financial contributions, Project Lifeline was driven by the dedication and volunteerism of Rotaractors and prospective members who worked tirelessly to coordinate collections, manage logistics, and distribute relief supplies. The project directly supported numerous families facing immediate hardships, ensuring access to essential supplies during a critical time. More importantly, it strengthened the humanitarian values of service, compassion, and teamwork within the Rotaract movement and the Imperial College community.

Aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 1 – No Poverty and SDG 11 – Sustainable Cities and Communities, the project contributed to building resilience among disaster-affected communities while promoting responsible and sustainable humanitarian response.

Project Lifeline also reinforced inter-club collaboration and enhanced emergency response planning capabilities within Rotaract networks. The initiative highlighted how youth-led organizations can play a vital role in disaster recovery and community support when guided by unity and purpose.

The Rotaract Club of Imperial College of Business Studies extends its heartfelt gratitude to all donors, volunteers, partners, and well-wishers who contributed to the success of this initiative. Their generosity and commitment made it possible to transform challenges into hope and relief for many families.

As Rotaractors and representatives of Imperial College of Business Studies, we remain committed to serving communities, responding to societal needs, and continuing to create meaningful and sustainable impact. Project Lifeline stands as a testament to what can be achieved when compassion meets action
