March 25, 2026

Imperial College of Business Studies proudly marked a significant milestone with the induction ceremony for its March 2026 intake, held at its newly unveiled, state-of-the-art campus in Colombo 04. The event brought together over 100 students who attended in person, while many others joined virtually, reflecting the College’s flexibility and commitment to accessibility amidst prevailing conditions.

The ceremony welcomed a diverse group of students who are set to begin their academic journeys through internationally recognised degree pathways. These include programmes offered in collaboration with the University of the West of Scotland (UWS) and Queen Margaret University (QMU). In an exciting new development, Imperial College also introduced its latest partnership with York St John University (YSJ), further strengthening its portfolio of exclusive global opportunities not widely available elsewhere in Sri Lanka. In addition, students enrolling in Diploma and Foundation programmes awarded by the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) were also part of this intake.

The new Colombo 04 campus provided the perfect backdrop for the occasion. Designed as a modern, student-centric learning environment, the facility features fully equipped lecture halls, collaborative student lounges, an auditorium, an advanced computer lab, a well-resourced library, and a vibrant cafeteria, creating a truly global education experience in the heart of the city.

The induction commenced with a warm welcome by Induja Srikanthan, Manager – Recruitments, who set an encouraging tone for the day. This was followed by an insightful overview of Imperial College delivered by Ovin Bimsara, Head of Marketing & Senior Lecturer, highlighting the institution’s legacy, academic excellence, and future vision. Students were then guided through the College’s Learning Management System (LMS) by Shivaganesh Anandaraja, Head of IT Operations, ensuring they are well-prepared for their academic journey.

Chanusha Jayawardane, Lecturer and Head of Student Activities, also addressed the audience on the extracurricular activities at Imperial College, alongside the Presidents of the ICBS Student Council and the ICBS Rotaract Club.
