Head Prefect at school / Student Council President at IMPERIAL KANDY-selected to COLOMBO UNIVERSITY
Upon the successful completion of GCE O/Ls with 8 As & 1B, I DECIDED to pursue my advanced level studies in the Commerce Stream, an area that I am both passionate and skilled in. The choice also allowed me to continue my extracurricular activities at school, ranging from athletics to Netball, for which I had received both National and School colors. These strides in academics and extracurricular activities served me in a good manner as it was followed by my appointment as the Head Prefect of my alma mater, Mahamaya Girls College, Kandy - a stint that taught me invaluable lessons in leadership, management, and team working. Subsequently, I completed my school career with the highest coolers and a guaranteed place at the University of Colombo.
Mahamaya College Kandy - Year 2017
Simultaneously, under the guidance of my parents, I enrolled at the Imperial College of Business Studies Kandy branch, where I received the opportunity to build my professional and academic skills.
I decided to pursue my CIMA studies at Imperial Kandy immediately after the completion of my O/L’s without wasting time, I was determined to complete the 1st stage of CIMA since the time duration was 6 months and it did cover core knowledge for commerce students.
After the completion of my A/Ls, I was able to enter the 1st year second semester of the degree at Imperial College of business studies Kandy branch since I had the experience of CIMA which was a very effective path I would say. The degree program itself was a very unique qualification that is a HONS DEGREE in International Business and Finance which I am able to complete CIMA and that was my ultimate goal and ACCA in 1 Syllabus.
Imperial College of Business Studies Kandy did test my skills not only in sports but in most areas which I developed as a Head Prefect. I represented myself in the NETBALL team for Imperial Kandy and I was able to earn the prestigious opportunity to serve as the President of the student council which I and my entire team were responsible for student environment, which also leads to an amazing as well as successful events during the time of my service in the student council with cherishing memories.
Most of these phases I had to go through at Imperial were a learning curve with experience in my life I would say. The most challenging part for me in my undergraduate career at the moment I would say is getting selected to the University of Colombo and talking up the challenge with excitement.
I believe my school Mahamaya Girls College Kandy and Imperial College of Business Studies Kandy branch did prepare me with amazing management skills to organize myself properly to take up the most difficult phase in my life. With the most supportive management at ICBS Kandy simultaneously taking my undergraduate studies at the University of Colombo I would say it was a blessing. Since I had to move to Colombo for University purposes having an Imperial branch at Colombo was a great advantage for me and it was a very smooth transfer. Overall, my time at Imperial College of Business Studies Kandy branch has been a deeply rewarding one: Having benefited from a world-class academic Lecturer panel to the most supportive family, it is an institution I would recommend to all. A statement from methma to you !!!!!!!!
Whenever you see a successful person, you only see the public glories, never the private sacrifices to reach them. I am a student at the University of Colombo and the only reason I am continuing my studies simultaneously with ICBS is that I know the degree along with CIMA can bring a change to my career and my LIFE. I want to work hard now so that the experience I have now will help me to face the challenges in the corporate world in the future. I want to prepare my self for what I want to face in the future !!
a very good article , good advice for anyone who are focused and who would like to become successful in life.
