It’s the reality, thank you for bringing this up. Even my daughters stopped swimming lessons after receiving the comments from relations about skin darkening. Very few are appreciating the skin colour as it is. Majority prefers fairer skins. People from west are dreaming to have darker skins.

Words like you are dark but beautiful will not help you or any other girl with dark skin, since that makes you feel like there is a bridge between being dark and being beautiful. There really is not. You are beautiful. Dark, fair, tall, short these are few of many adjectives used to describe appearances, it has nothing to do with beauty in itself. After all beauty is more than skin deep. I hope your words has helped you more than it could help many of us. This is a never ending battle you have to fight with the society and yourself, and I wish you win both.
